Attention Contributors:   Please keep in mind that there is quite a backlog of items that still need to be posted. Thank you for your patience!

Contributing to MotorCityRock.com

Keep a few things in mind when you consider contributing to MotorCityRock.com:
1. Make sure that the thing that you're contributing hasn't already been posted.  I get a lot of duplications.  Do a little research before you send.  Send your contributions once. If it doesn't show up...don't re-send.  If you still haven't seen your contribution after a couple months, e-mail me.
2. Be patient.  I get lots and lots and lots of submissions every day. It usually takes a while to get things posted.  Most submissions get posted within 2 or 3 weeks.  Audio and Video usually gets posted first, then photos and flyers. Eventually, everything gets posted.
3. Make sure your contribution is appropriate for MotorCityRock.com. I do not list bands from the 70's or 90's, unless they were active in the 80's.  I also do not list bands that primarily played cover songs.  I realize that everyone played covers at some point...but there's a difference between playing covers and being a cover band.  Please respect my decision to include (or not include) bands. In many cases, the decision is very subjective. Complete histories for most bands are presented.  Many bands were active in the 80's...but also 70's, 90's and 00's.  In these cases, all audio, video, flyers, gigs, etc (regardless of the decade) are presented for that band.
4. Important!  You are granting MotorCityRock.com permission to post your contributions in a free, public archive.  If you do not own the copyright to your submissions, do not contribute.  See our copyright page for more information.

If you would like to contribute to MotorCityRock.com, simply use the "Submit corrections or additions to this listing" link at the bottom of each listing.  You may also send me a brief e-mail.  Tell me who you are, who you used to play with or follow, when and where you used to play and what you'd like to add to this site.  We can use photos, audio, video, set lists, gig history's, band memorabilia...and your memories.  The more we receive, the better this site will be.  Thanks.

Photos, Flyers, Ads, etc.
All scans should be 72dpi at 100%.  RGB images are preferred.  Newspaper articles can be scanned at a higher resolution (200-300dpi) to retain readability.  If you have existing scans that are different from these guidelines you can still send them, it just may take a while longer for me to convert and post them.  If you don't have access to a scanner but still want to contribute, e-mail me and we'll make other arrangements.

Audio
All the audio files on MotorCityRock.com are presented as MP3's.  The preferred bitrate is 128 Kbps.  I will also accept WAV's, WMA, and SHN's among others.  Please do not send Real Audio files.  MP3's can be attached to e-mail, or FTP'd if you have several of them.  If you can't digitize your songs you can drop a CD or tape in the mail and I'll convert everything.  E-mail me for shipping details.

Video
Currently, all video files on MotorCityRock.com are presented as WMV9.  The player is free and the quality is excellent.  If you have the ability to encode your own video contributions, use these guidelines: Video 30 fps, 320x240.  Audio: 32 Kbps, 22,050 Hz. Stereo.  I use Sony Vegas to encode video, and I use the WMV9 template optimized for 256 Kbps connections.  If you have a beefy internet connection and can FTP, you can also send AVI or MPEG video files.  If you can't digitize your videos, you can drop a VHS, Betamax, 8mm, or MiniDV videotapes in the mail and I'll convert everything and return the masters.  E-mail me for shipping details.

Sending large files, MP3's, Video, etc.
If you need to send large files, browse to YouSendIt.com.  This is a great free service that allows you to upload files up to 1GIG to their server using a simple web-based interface.  It's very easy to use, and it's totally free.  If you have more than one file, MP3's, WAV's, Video, or whatever, you can ZIP them all together and save some time.

Sending contributions by mail
If none of the above methods will work, you may send your contributions by mail:
